I like the old stuff, Jm. One of my favorite jazz combos is Django Reinhardt and the Hot Jazz Quintet of France. They recorded during the 1930's & 1940's. Their unique sound came from the fact that Reinhardt only had the use of two fingers of his fret hand. Listen to his solo of Honeysuckle Rose or the quintet's interpretation of Sweet Georgia Brown which features virtuoso violinist Stephane Grappelli. I dare you not to start tapping your feet.

Very rarely hear anyone reference Django Reinhardt other than other guitarists. His playing is what kept him from being killed by the Nazis during the war. Do you play? |
