Interesting... Has anyone ever requested copies of those bid invitations that were allegedly sent out to internet providers? Frankly, considering the cutthroat competition among cable companies, satellite TV companies and phone companies for internet provider market share, it's hard to believe they would pass on the opportunity to bid on a potential customer base of close to 800 homes.

This public bidding notice was required by FS720 in connection with competition concerns for telecommunications contracts per FS720.309. This was when it was believed (or hoped) that we were regulated by FS720. In reality, we were not subject to FS720.309 because it was a NEWLY-ENACTED PROVISION and our documents do not provide for "automatic adoption" of new laws of this nature. To do otherwise would be applying law retroactively and unconstitutional.
Of course, we are currently under no covenants and thus are not regulated by FS720.
This so-called targeted invitational "bidding" never happened and is irrelevant.
It is laughable that leadership asserts that the the office and maintenance could not function without internet. How did they communicate from 1972-2010? Had anybody heard that wireless technology was freely available? No towers-no cables--no equipment scarring up the property! Wireless was available when Lake Wales Wireless went under.
The future is wireless..not land-based.

I have a question on this thing they call KCNET. How come Saddlebaggers are subject to pay for the permits for the towers and all legal expense that go with it..? The man that we will call B ob the Nob (for a lack of a better word)..B ob the Nob owns KCnet and he said he "gave" us the towers..I do not know about anyone else here but I for one can see it--this is what you call a bait and switch. He switches the liability to us and he keeps all the profit. And we, as dumb Saddlebaggers get all the headaches and pain of having to own a business and he gets to keep the money. Maybe we should call him Tricky Dick..Great if his intelligence far surpasses most peoples' here, but come on-- do you really think I am that blind?
Facts that are true.. Fact 1 Why does the board have closed door meetings? Fact 2 Why are we paying for something no one will benefit from it except expense and aggravation? Fact 3.This a residential community. Why would I want all different walks of life come in and out of here on a daily basis? Fact 4.Why are the books not open to us? Fact 5.Why does the board keep everything a secret? Fact5..Why does the board encourage this behavior from Tricky Dick? Fact6. Why do they have a closed, special meeting on our behalf and there is no one here to contest it? Why meet in May when all residents went home? Because of a bottom base that is not stable .. FACT13 A person that truly cared about the quality of S-bag would have had gone about it differenly. When they raised it 2", they created a water problem and it cost even more to fix! Why? Because they hired people that don't have a clue what they are doing. Our street should of have been milled instead of the lift. Whoever hired the company was clueless or had something else on there agenda. That company didn't have a milling machine so S-bag got the shaft..

A few contributors are putting together some possible comments for owners to use as suggested concern areas since many folks have expressed concern but are not sure "what to say". The postal address and email address is on the first post. Don't forget to note the Case #PD73-08M and your name and street address!
I am also advised that the County can do whatever it likes regardless of what our governing documents say; the county is the superior authority. However, it will be appropriate to remind the County that they approved the private restrictions on land use and the RV and campground plat that we all relied on when accepting title.

The process for selecting a vendor is supposed to be open and transparent. Instead the BOD has chosen personal relationships and secrecy. First and foremost, the definition of corruption is an adjective that means the having or the showing of a willingness to act dishonestly in return for money or personal gain, (in my opinion, that sounds like some of our board members to a T...) anyhow, while the word corrupt also includes it to define a criminal act, it is in the act(s) of dishonesty on the part of some board members that has resulted in their return for money or personal gain that I am referring to.

On the topic of the inbred nature of our board due to "inside board appointments" in the last 5 years, Admin stands corrected--Frns Sm all ran for a board vacancy in 2010 for the 2011 seat, along with Peet Brdun. I discovered this while posting archived Minutes from 2010.

I have been at the computer for 3hrs trying to put into words exactly what I am thinking. This newly formed Corporation in SLR, with all of its towers and proposed new towers, plus the additional heights of said towers, in SLohA/KCnetworks proposed application is just plain wrong. Greed has taken over Common Sense. I need some sleep and start over fresh in the morning, with my letter to Polk County. I am lost for words at the present. They have lied and deceived us from the beginning in 2009. All for the love of money and ones ego, for the Love of SLR, is Crap. It is about one persons personal dream, or should I say Vision.
What a Cancer we have in SLR and it wants to spread rapidly. I myself truly blame the residents in SLR for letting this cancer plant a seed back in 2009 and letting it grow. It will Kill SLR as we once knew it. Please show me another HOA Community with several 100 ft. towers. A tower with guy wires over its tennis courts fence, a tower in it recreation beach area. All because people would not get off of their ass and speak out about this Cancer, SLR's BOD & KCNet have created. I am lost for words. Do SLR's Residents Care? I think most do not. Some say they Love SLR, but stand on the sideline and watch it Die. Words with out Deeds will get you no where, we can move Mountains, but you have to bring a Shovel.

How many times have you been booed or harassed at Board meetings or other events when you spoke out about a commercial business within S-bag? They (Saddlebaggers ) shot the messenger. Do you know of any bird that craps in its own nest? Well the snowbirds and ostriches are doing just that. When I return to SLR this winter I will be hanging out my commercial signs on my property and it will be legal and ugly.

I am toying with the idea of a real estate office from my home; I already have decades of experience and most real estate is handled over the internet now and would be a similar business as Mr. St aib's. I am also considering possibly setting up a Sm all group home such as an Assisted Living Facility or a Hospice Facility (ie. less than 6) which only requires a Level 1 review (not the more complicated Level 3 like Mr. St aib's). My experience as a nurse would be quite transferrable to operating such a business and I believe there is a need for an in-park provider (temporary or permanent). Perhaps Mr. O'N eel (Attny) would be interested in setting up a satellite law office in S-bag where routine legal matters such as setting up Revokable Trusts, probate of estates, Wills and such documents could be prepared.
Many businesses such has hair & nail salons or landscaping services do not require ANY rezoning reviews.
A world of possibilities awaits the many species of birds in S-bag in the future.

We love children. In the past my wife had a Sm all DayCare Center. We are thinking about opening a DayCare again, to supplement our fixed income. The younguns' would love the pool. The start up cost would be minimal, maybe a swing-set and slide, in the beginning.

I can make my second bedroom into an office counseling to anyone within or without S-bag for $45-60. an hour and hang a very large sign in the front yard. One has to have an MSW and certification to do this, and I do. Do we want to see all the businesses pop up all over S-bag? I don't, do you?

I know a massage therapist who would love to have a room to rent one day or morning a week for appointments in S-bag. Since I can't sell my home and--it will be even less likely to be able to sell it once commercial business is allowed in S-bag--I might as well make it produce some income.
