Most people are aware that Gngr at 66 SS has been having flares of her lupus. She is currently having problems and I was asked to make a post to inform owners of the events last night. Lra is quite busy caring for Gngr and also recently divested herself of upcoming holiday activities in the park to attend to Gngr's needs.

Thank you S u e for your post and medical assistance last night. Stress is truly a killer and we have been given a major dose of it from this Board and their underlings that have tried to make our lives miserable and push us out of this community. Gngr will never be the same and she is right now so compromised that 24 hour monitoring is vital. Visitors are great pick her uppers. But no more stress. Right now we are using comedy and lightheartedness as a good prescription.

There is a major difference between failed heart and heart attack. With a failed heart it just stops beating---no warning signs or possibility of intervention. Gngr's heart is so weakened by the Lupus that she needs to be monitored 24/7. A heart attack sure would have been easier to deal with.

...and the time between a failed heart and the stopping of beating is a failing heart. I have not learned of Gngr's diagnosis regarding this last episode, so this will clarify the distinction which Lra offered.
Heart failure is also known as Congestive Heart Failure (CHF). It is present when heart muscle doesn't pump blood sufficiently to nourish the body's organs and tissues. Conditions such as heart attacks, narrowed arteries in your heart (coronary artery disease) or high blood pressure are common causes for the development of CHF. Other chronic diseases and conditions can damage heart muscle through infection and inflammation. Heart failure is sometimes a complication of lupus, called lupus myocarditis, due to lupus-associated inflammatory activity in the coronary blood vessels.
There are 4 functional classifications based on symptoms: St age 1 (pre-symptomatic but present on testing), St age 2 (fatigue with exercise), St age 3 (shortness of breath/fatigue with any exertion) and St age 4 (shortness of breath at rest). These functional classifications appropriately guide the treatment plan.
Heart failure is chronic and, in most cases, irreversible. Proper treatment with medications and diet/lifestyle modifications can delay progression. Some CHF can be treated with surgery or implanting a device.
I fervently hope that, if the diagnosis shows that Gngr has sustained an episode of heart failure, that it is mild and manageable. Please everybody, Gngr loves having visitors--please drop over to the hospital and pay her a short visit!

All Gngr ever wanted was to live in peace amongst friends. She found the friends. She couldn't find the peace.

I just received word from Lra that Gngr has suffered a setback and has been transferred to the ICU at Lake Wales Hospital. She can receive visitors though it would be a good idea to call Lra first as Gngr's condition has deteriorated.
I visited Gngr today and she was in extreme pain. She was being readied for transfer to Bartow Medical Center to the care of a lupus specialist. Vitals were routinely taken in preparation for the transfer and it was revealed that vitals would not permit a safe transfer.
I am posting this update for Lra who is understandably overwhelmed with the current situation. Please keep Gngr and Lra in your thoughts and prayers.

She has been stabilized and is showing overall improvement. Still concerns about how compromised her heart may be.

Lra reports that Gngr is feeling better. It has been a rough week. Know that all the love and prayers sent Gngr's way have helped so much. Gngr is still in ICU and has 5 specialists attending her. Her primary doctor and a Lupus expert called me personally tonight to explain some medical concerns and details from his perspective. Not only must they identify and attack the very specific strain of bacteria, but they must find the point of origination. He shared with me his medical suspicions and will be following up with all the other doctors attending her. In a couple of days we will know ore. She is alert and looks wonderful and her vitals have be stable for 40+ hours. Will keep you posted. Lra

In order to keep information true, I am writing this dialog. Gngr is a very private person when it comes to her health and never wanted to burden others in any way. Unfortunately, the need to explain is very important. lupus was diagnosed 16 years ago. With the intervention of my niece is is a MD, PHD on the teaching staff at Yale University (Mary Tmyk) a unique protocol was ordered and after 2 1/2 years of heavy treatment Gngr's Lupus was down graded to Connective Tissue Disease. With all the proper precautions she would and could live the rest of her life within that diagnosis. Gngr has undergone 2 major operations and not had any incidents. It was not until the stress of this past year that she went from a manageable illness to full blown Systemic Lupus---something that attacks every organ, tissue and system in the body. Sun exposure was never an issue as all of her clothing is SPA and her daily body cream is sunscreen. My niece is back on board along with the other 5 specialists treating her. We do not know the long term effects, but we are proactive and determined to move beyond this. Your prayers, s concerns, cards and love have really given her hope. She smiles with such good thoughts being sent her way. Thank you, everyone, Lra

Thank you, Courious, The Shadow + 21 and all the loving people here at S-bag. Gngr is not out of the woods yet. Although she was moved out of ICU, she has a long, precarious road to go for recovery. Her system has now fallen into a weakened and she is suffering from secondary infections that are s etting in.
Prayers, prayers and more prayers are needed.

WITH LOVE IN OUR HEARTS, WE GIVE THANKS
Thank you, dear friends. Your prayers, words of encouragement and love have proven to us once again why we chose to make S-bag our permanent home. Our neighbors are the best.
Gngr will be coming home within the next day or so. Her spirits are high and she cannot wait to play with her "puppies" and to visit with fellow Saddlebaggers.
Have a blessed Thanksgiving. Lra and Gngr

Gngr has had another setback. She is still hospitalized at Lake Wales hospital in room 306. She will be there u til sometime next week. She would love to have visitors. This is going on her third week of hospitalization this time around not to mention a week back in October. In the meantime, I am having to fly to Michigan for my sister's surgery. Guess that when it rains it pours.
