I have no idea where to put this post; so here goes:
Our water meter was being read incorrectly for the longest time, due to the fact that the maintenance people were reading the last number a zero--which IS constant, and recording it, thereby over inflating our water use 10 fold!
They just couldn't seem to get it right, after telling them over and over and over again that they are NOT to pick up that last zero; it doesn't move off of zero and they knew that, yet still kept recording this number. You couldn't tell them anything and expect them to get it right.
After writing a note explaining this, talking to the office, and physically showing them that the last zero is in fact a constant--they got it right for awhile. Finally, we thought they got it straight, but the guys that did it last month once again picked up the last zero and now our water statement has once again been overinflated 10-fold. These guys are truly idiots, since the other guys who read the meter,(Nacho & Greg) for the other quarters understood exactly what I was talking about and always got it right.
Now our last statement must once again be corrected, and, since all these readings do go to SWFWMD, they must be given the CORRECT NUMBER. This is utterly ridiculous for them to have corrected the problem, then, after the fact, NOT be able to realize you don't read a number on a meter that has NO consequence on the amount of gallons used. How goddamn hard can this be??
We have two employees that do it right and the other two do NOT. I don't know what to say or do anymore when something so damn easy to do right such as copying a few numbers onto a piece of paper (once again) getting screwed up.
So, everyone, check your water statements, and if you have a meter w/the final ZERO as a constant, such as ours, your water usage more than likely will be overinflated 10X.
If you see a discrepancy, you should report it to the office so it gets corrected because these numbers DO get reported to the water agency SWFWMD; they monitor all water used in here.
They were also having a problem getting the common area usage correct since they failed to put meters where they installed sprinkler systems. This caused the park's overall water usage to be far underreported, but according to a report this past summer, they still had yet to figure that one out, and since SWFWMD requires water used to be reported within an accuracy of 10%, they were way off.
This is just par for course with the way this place is maintained.

Just another example how the stupid rumors start in this resort. The water meter readings from each meter is not the figures that are given to SWFWMD. If the idiot that wrote the above would take time to get the facts instead of jumping to conclusions, you would find that the water meter readings come directly from the well heads and that is the figure SWFWMD receives. Please take the time to get to the right person to get a straight and informed answer.

WOW ! the commenter above is just a little pissy !
I looks to me like the comment speaks to the mis reading of meters and not so much with the wells or rumours . And besides who really cares? nobody will consider this good pool or card table info anyway.
Try and take a few deep breaths and whistle a happy tune and lighten up !

to the post about examples of how stupid rumors get started : Anyone can see that you didn't understand what you read by your comment and BTW you can read it more than once .
To quote a line from a favorite movie of mine Forrest Gump I must ask........
ARE YOU STUPID OR SOMETHING ?
Who is the IDIOT now DUMBASS ?

To the moron who thinks that I am starting rumors and jumping to conclusions or need any "informed" answers for that matter: Nothing could be further from the truth.
You misunderstood and misinterpreted the entire point of my post--which was the fact that once again, us residents need to deal with the inaccuracies of the reporting of our individual water meter readings which appear on the post cards mailed every quarter to every resident.
My post did NOT have anything to do with the wellhead meters or what they said or what you said SWFWMD receives; all households and common areas are supposed to be metered so that all water is accounted for.
Your way-off-base post just shows you posses no comprehension of what you read; you were given the facts and misunderstood my point
It's people like you that misunderstand, misinterpret and misconstrue what you read and hear that start rumors, jump to conclusions and need informed answers.

I said the water meter readings from each individual meter is not what is reported to SWFWMD. There are meters on each well head that meter the amount of water being pumped from the aquifer and those readings are added together and sent to SWFWMD. You pay $50.00 for three months of water and it doesn't matter if your statement shows 9 gallons or 90,000 gallons. I know you hate to be proven wrong and get put down in front of your peers but you are not as bright as you want them to think. Here is a quote, "someone thought you were smart until you open your mouth and proved them wrong."

it appears that the only one who is stupid is who posted the above comment .
AND STILL A LIL PISSY !

If our water meter on our lots don't matter and only the reading from the well heads is what SLRs water bill is based on and that bill is payed by owner fees collected then why do we pay the $50. for water every 3 months ?
And so if its 9 or 90,000 gallons and that doesn't matter then why do the SLR staff read the meters and sent out the usage cards and or /bill ?
Are we paying for the water twice ? is the $200. per year additional to what the fees already pay for from the well head usage readings ?
Was the SLR water billing instituted by SLR through BOD action ?
_________________________________________________________
To the Asshole that still doesn't get my point; if our individual household water meter reading is irrelevant then:
1)Why then do we have 2 employees going around reading water meters every 3 months?
and
2)Why are those post cards sent out to every resident every 3 months?
and
3)Why are we told to contact the office if they are incorrect?
and
4)Why is SLohA going through all this extra work and expense if you say the only water meter reading that matters is coming off of the well head?
______________________________________________________________
Since I timed out, one more question for the Asshole:
5)Why were a shit-load of individualhousehold water meters changed out between 2 and 3 years ago--some twice--like ours--at a very big cost to the HOA? AND GET A LOAD OF THIS--OURS WAS WORKING PERFECTLY FINE BEFORE THEY CHANGED IT BECAUSE WE DID A FLOW TEST ON THEM--ALL 3 OF THEM WORKED JUST FINE!
6)If the amount of water used by any one household doesn't matter, then why did we get a bill a few years back for additional water they claimed we used above 10,000 gallons in one quarter and sent us a bill for the regular $50/quarter water charge PLUS another $19 for a total water bill of $69?
WHY ARE WE GOING THROUGH WITH ALL THESE COSTS IF JUST THE WELL HEAD READING IS ALL THEY GO BY TO BILL US FOR WATER?

Actually the gallons used by individual homes, lots and community areas ARE in fact totaled and checked against the well head meter numbers . Although that figure is NOT what SLRs bill to the water utility is based on , the total gallons is used to tally and cross check the well numbers both by the Utility and SLR .
Please don't be confused , I am none of the above post makers .

There is a poster on 10/25/13 @ 14:20 who likes to insult people's intelligence merely because they've been misinformed by either their "peers" or by what they interpreted from the Manager or a combination of both.
This person should try thinking for themselves for a change instead of letting their peers think and make up their mind for them.
_________________________________________________________________
Just because someone is ignorant of the facts does NOT mean they are "stupid"; if being misinformed and/or being lead to believe one thing is true, when it is not, equates to that person's overall intelligence then just about everyone in here could be called "stupid."
There have been far too many instances to count which people have stated opinions as facts; then, those who think they are armed with the facts go around telling everyone else they know to be true, when it is not that way at all; this is how this community gets misinformed.

To the Above person who wrote on Oct 26 @ 14:49:10 :
This is VERY TRUE in SLR, and is why there's such a big gossip/rumor mill. A lot of people are misinformed and believe the misinformation they hear. Then, when they are told what's really true, they may not want to believe the facts since they are not as interesting or juicy as the gossip/rumors they've previously been lead to believe.
Much of this misinformation gets disseminated at the Monday morning and/or board meetings.
________________________________________________________________________
I find it hard to believe that this person who has called the person with the original post on the water meter subject is willing to call someone else stupid merely because they were misinformed of one single fact.
A person's stupidity is not based on them being uninformed or misinformed about one single fact. I believe the person who called the other one stupid should take a step back and realize they don't know everything, either--no one does--they are not omnipotent. And just because they don't everything doesn't make them stupid--or anyone else for that matter.
_________________________________________________________________________
To Above:
Bravo; well said--nobody knows everything; and I bet that if you took a survey of SLR residents that a good percentage of them would not know this fact either.
The person who called the other one "stupid" makes that very appearance by virtue of what they said; not everyone knows these facts--and how on earth could they have been expected to?
