Managers' Report :
Hello and good morning everyone, I hope you all had a great weekend!
Digging has been finished on the Red Quill green-way Drainage Project. Most of the sod was laid Friday with the rest of scheduled to be laid this week. Maintenance has set up temporary irrigation to water it while it takes root.
It was determined flow metering was required to address the water infiltration issue with the sewer system. Several bids for 2 month flow metering service and data collection were reviewed at the Wednesday Board of Directors meeting and the proposal by Central Elctc was accepted. The flow meters have been ordered and upon arrival will be installed and maintained by Central Elctc. During the first month they will also be training Jhn and Rikki on the installation and maintenance of the meters. The second month our maintenance staff will take over operations of the meters. Doing it this way allowed us a substantial savings, and training for the future if the resort wishes to invest in purchasing meters for the maintenance of the sewer system.
Last week the question was raised about watering the grounds during daylight vs after sundown. I spoke with Jhn and looked into the matter. There are 2 reasons for the current irrigation times. Foremost is that in our tropical climate watering after sundown promotes fungus and disease that can attack and kill the grass. This is not an issue in more temperate climates but here in Florida it is a serious concern. The second reason is this has been a rather hot and dry summer by Florida standards. Irrigating during daylight helps prevent the grass from “burning". Adjustments are being made to the timers around the post office so irrigation does not interfere with mail delivery hours.
Thank you and have a Great week!
