Does anyone know who cleans up all the cat turds around the office ? I see several cats lounging around and food and water set out for them. Aren't pets supposed to be on a leash and in the Animal Areas ?
None of the cats had a collar on its neck so I doubt they have been Registered with Animal Control, had shots for Rabies, been Spayed or Neutered . Does SLR have them listed on its Insurance Policy ? If they are feeding them then the cats and the responsibility falls on SLohA in case someone gets bitten or scratched by a stray cat which the Manager allows ?
Its troubling to see responsible pet owners getting hassled and stupid ugly signs all over our Recreation area but then the Manager allows feeding of stray cats on the office steps. Stray cats are the same as Squirrels, they are wild with no owners and should not be fed. remember the squirrel bites came from people feeding them and stray cat bites are far worse and more costly in medical bills and Legal Settlements .
I have a Letter stating that Management approves the "SECURITY FORCE" (cough) to round up loose animals and call Animal Control.

This issue with feeding stray cats at the front office is a "Great First Impression" when you are looking at Homes For Sale in SLR.
Feeding wild cats, is just a Dumb--Dumb, Redneck Trailer Trash Idea.

Under certain conditions and after sufficient warning, an animal control officer can issue a citation to the owner or custodian of a pet that has created a nuisance by constantly making noise, destroying property, soiling on private property or threatening to injure a person or animal.
Sections from Polk County Animal Control Ordinance:
Feral animal sH all be defined as any animal that is born wild or has reverted to the wild and that is unsocialized, untamed, or unable to be approached or handled.
Section 7 Duties of Owners or Custodian, Running at Large...
(b) No person owning or having custody or control of any dog or unaltered cat sH all cause, permit, or allow the animal to stray or run at large in or upon any public street, sidewalk, park, or other public property, or private property of another.
Section 10 Impounding of Animals Running at Large
(b) Animal control officers are authorized to impound cats including a feral cat colony or any of its members and may lawfully enter onto private property when in pursuit of the animal if:
(1) The cat or cats create public health and safety concerns (including rabies and other zoonotic diseases); or (2) The cat or cats create a nuisance as defined in section 11a (1) or (2)
Section 11 Companion Animal Creating Nuisance
(a) Any owner or custodian of a companion animal sH all be deemed to be maintaining a nuisance in violation of this ordinance that:
(2) disturbs the peace by destroying, or soiling public or private property, or threatening to cause injury to any person or domestic animal or property other than that of the owner or custodian or other similar conduct or behavior twice within a three year period

Feral cats are fierce predators of birds and wildlife, attract other predators with unconsumed remnants of their prey and can transmit some nasty diseases. They and WE deserve care and protection. There are humane agencies established to accomplish this. SLR/Mange is not an authorized agency/agent of Polk County Animal Control Services.

It appears that Feral Cats have taken up residence under the left rear corner of the Office adjacent to the inside parking lot and the Workout Room . I personally saw a cat run across QW after pooping across the street and go under the bldg.

You don't have to personally see anything. I went to the office and asked. The cats are being kept by the office manager. She/office personnel feed and water them daily. I even heard that all the cats have been fixed. (spay or neutered) When I was there, someone mentioned that one looked pregnant and the office staff said no because they had been fixed and had their shots.
As food was being donated, the comment made was "Thank you as feeding them gets expensive"
So... WHO & HOW is this being paid for? Sure hope it's not from "petty cash".

If the cats have been spayed/neutered and have shots lets see the little pamphlet from the Vets Office or even a receipt .
Surely this cant be classed as "Private Medical Records " that require a signed release from the animals owner . And who is insuring them like people do their dogs on their Homeowners Policy ?
OH>>>> and why are they allowed to run loose ? I thought there was a rule and enforcement for that sort of thing .
I sH all wait for the proof while playing 1 million hours of the Final Jeopardy music .

These cats should be wearing collars with the vaccine tag and PCSD Animal Control numbered tag attached to said collar.

Lets get some of the cats on video, feeding/watering areas/ and any cat houses. A picture is worth a thousand words. What a great first impression a visitor gets of SLR as they stop at the front office to sign-in. Any Homes For Sale, they may have asked...

IT would be considered a "casual custodian" of the cats. She is feeding them most likely using owner's funds and on company time.
She is BS'ing as usual about them being spayed and neutered. If she does not own them, she could not possibly know this. If she does own them, what the H are they doing on SLR property soiling private property? Their fertility status is beside the point.
They (and SHE) are an unwelcome and obnoxious presence in the park.
Someone please call Sheriff; they need two complaints on record to capture the animals.
