Nice and Clear Pics of the Boat Dock. I love the ramp, from stationary pier to floating pier. O-Well, I guess what ever floats your Boat is OK... I do believe this was a very, very expensive Boat Dock Project. I am curious, what was the total final cost? Anyone have any Info? I would guess about, $175,000 for every thing. O-Me, It is only our money

Without any knowledge of the engineering technical choices made, this project seems to be well-done and durable.
It would be very nice if, when these kinds of major projects are completed, that a full report be made to the people who financed it describing the particulars of the project; ie type of construction, contractor, permits required, choices/decisions in materials and engineering, cost and any overruns and why, additional ancillary structures required, short and long-term maintenance required and expected lifetime of the structure.
This would be the respectful way to introduce the new Boat Dock to the membership that funded it and to recognize the leaders who put it all together.
Kudos to those who volunteered many hours to this project.

$175K, surely you jest; I know for a fact that more than that was spent for that boat dock; I don't know how much more, but I do know they had to whip out another almost $160K extra for boat dock costs earlier this summer. That was on an agenda for one of their board meetings; there were two other amounts for two other projects that they had to put extra money into as well. After thinking about it, I went back next day to jot those figures down & the agenda was already removed--this was after it was only up for TWO days.

The boat slip fees need to be raised. Maybe to $300 per yr. The Boat owners I believe pay less know, then the cost of a storage lot. If the Slip Fees are indeed raised to $300 plus, you will not see any old shabby vessels at the pier. I do remember that the money Budgeted for the Pier, would only allow them to do phase one. Which was just the no-floating pier. Someone on the BOD, I do believe pushed for the expensive aluminum pier. So it was Over Budget from the start. I bet the complete cost of that project is hidden from us. But we do have a BOD Meeting Nov.5, that would be a good time to start asking questions about Money spent this past Summer. The Financial Statement for October is posted on Chug. But, I do not know what I am looking for or at.

The reason : You have to think of what's BEST FOR THE COMMUNITY .

What a patronizing, paternalistic and patriarchal position!
