Sept 21 BOD Meeting Remarks
Good morning and welcome to the Sept. SLohA BOD meeting.
Since our last meeting in July, there have been some significant developments in the events and operations of S-bag Lake Resort.
One event that will deeply impact the resort is the retirement notification of our maintenance Manager, J hn Crummy. J hn has served S-bag tor the past 12 years and in that time all of us have come to hold him in the highest esteem both as an employee of the resort and a fellow owner. Jhn plans to leave his post at the end of Feb. 2017. We will miss J hn's all encompassing knowledge of the operation of S-bag and his cooperative and giving spirit. The current plan is to have Jhn work toward a smooth transfer of his responsibilities over the next few months to Rikki Boyd . More will be said about this later in the meeting.
In other news, we received news last Thursday, that the judge in the discrimination complaint filed with HUD has ruled in favor of S-bag. The judge has recommended that the complaint be dismissed.
Another legal hearing facing S-bag, a cH allenge to the DEO's approval of the revitalization of our Governing Documents is now scheduled for Sept 26. That verdict will give us a better idea of how to move forward in implementing the resort's covenants and restrictions.
The Board recognizes that our fellow owners are anxious to see these legal issues resolved and we want to keep you informed about the status of these longstanding issues. The truth is that legal decisions come slowly in spite of our desire to move on but we have nothing further to report and no further action to take at this time.
While these cases have been hanging over us all summer, as Chap's report indicated , there has been plenty of other business going on and we will be addressing these issues in today's meeting.
We had a letter from Alc Nttr at our July meeting inquiring about plans to rejuvenate the S-bag Lake Resort entry sign on SR 60. In response to that I would like to say that plans are in the works to form a Sign Beautification Committee to address sign refurbishing and the planting of a low maintenance flower bed at the base of the sign. There will be more to follow as the committee is formed.
These were remarks presented at the Sept. 21st BOD Meeting.
Over the course of the summer I have been presenting these messages on the website in order to update owners during the time when the S-bag Express was not being published. The Express resumes publication with its October edition. Over the winter months, I will be contributing a “President’s Message” to the paper which I will post on this site when the Express is distributed within the resort. As before the entire S-bag Express will be posted under its own dedicated tab on the menu bar.
Look for my Express report during the first week of October.
