March 15, 2017 Board Meeting
As you all know, this the first meeting to involve our newly elected directors, Nunsee DerRandy, Dave Dunk Key and Jhn GodWyn and of course my first meeting in my second year as president of the BOD.
I am pleased to be able to work with the rest of this team who have chosen to serve our fellow owners in overseeing operations here at S-bag.
This being March, means a flurry of activity as we face a new year of leadership while finishing up this winter’s business and preparing to say goodbye to many members of our community who will be heading back to points all over the US, Canada and some even to Europe and beyond.
In the midst of that we attempted something new and forward-looking in the form of a Facilitated Workshop which everyone who attended considered an outstanding success and upon which T Roof will report later in the meeting.
This past weekend we celebrated Fun Day and along with all the pageantry which we have come to expect from this day, the Canadians stole the show this year with their celebration of the country’s 150th birthday. Congratulations to the organizers of the entire day’s activities and especially to all of those who have worked for over a year now to pull all of this together. We, who are Canadians, want to once again recognize Kathy Roof for the inspiring program that she put together for our Canada Day banquet.
The folks from Michigan did great job with their drive-in theater float as did the various clubs and organizations who placed entries, and despite each of the various groups expressing pride in their individuality, Fun Day is above all a day when all Saddlebaggers come together to celebrate what we share. That is our love for our community and all the neighbors and friends that make every day a celebration.
This unity of spirit ,that has been cultivated over the years, is truly amazing and is part of what makes this resort so special and we have been inspired by the outpouring of support that we have seen expressed over the last several days for protecting and defending that unity.
Today we will approving our Directors’ Meeting Schedule. We will be trying to get the framework for our various committees finalized so that their work can continue over the summer and get our new executive prepared for the year. We will be tidying up some year end budgeting issues and we will hear from our Governing Documents as it steers us toward revising and improving upon the guidelines which created this resort and which will protect it in the future.
So in some respects this the end of one chapter but the beginning of another.
