SB 1186 has been filed by Sen. Bracy. The bill would add the following to Chapter 720:
The purpose of this bill is an attempt to contain the growing practice among homeowners of putting their homes up on Air BNB's for short term "hotel-type" rentals. This is becoming a problem especially in communities near tourist attractions. The coming and going of short-term guests is a nuisance to other owners. Guests are not aware of nor are they likely to observe customs or rules of communities.
Limiting rental rights is a vested property right and, as such, it would require the specific approval of any current owner who agrees to be subject to the restriction.
It does not appear to have much support and it is thought it will not get to a vote this session.
