There is hardware and software available to record meetings. This equipment will record and download onto a computer. It can then be then be written into a word document for publication. Both the sound recording and the written document could be published in its entirety on the BOD section of SaddlebagLakeresort.net. This hardware and software is not that expensive (around $300.00). I think both the board workshops and meetings should be recorded. _________________________________________
This is shamefully overdue. We already have great audio/video equipment and an onsite owner in the business. It is not for lack of technology, equipment and know-how that this was not done ages ago.
I believe it is because there is No WILL--No DESIRE to include owners in SLohA business and No TRANSPARENCY. Our current lack of business and financial disclosure is an intentional business model-not a matter of mere neglect. This was pounded home to membership last year when the first act of the sitting board was to adopt a new SOP effectively eliminating reasonable and affordable access to official records. You could almost see the anticipation and glee in BOD as the motion was read to owners.
I can understand the BOD's resistance to allowing owners to "see" the conduct of SLohA business; which we were inadvertantly informed of last year by the BOD's embarrassing "slip" that business was being conducted by email. They surely do not want owners to know that Management Company/Mange have been given the reigns to do as they please, as long as they dutifully "recommend" an action to BOD.
For , BOD is simply a nuisance that must be elbowed past as elegantly as possible to avoid accountability for its actions and to accomplish its self-interested goals. For owners, BOD is simply a group of volunteers in title only with way too much ego based on no apparent foundation of competence. They are functionally absent in serving in any meaningful way on behalf of owners and have abdicated all their power to the Management Company/Mange.
