Sadly, my friend, Don Drabik passed away suddenly last Tuesday, Nov 5th.
Over the past 8 months, I discovered that Don was a force of nature to be reckoned with. Smart, sassy and decisive, he did not "suffer fools lightly". He had enormous energy and was intensively inquisitive and passionate about "current issues" in SLR. It is through that shared interest that our friendship blossomed. He generously devoted time, money and his home for the benefit and education of owners.
When Don announced his serious illness, our friendship expanded into new and unfamiliar territory. We talked about "choices and spirit"--the values and priorities that guide one approaching passage into the next life. Don knew exactly how he was going to live the remainder of his life and doctors be damned! He kept his family close to him for support and made frequent trips back home to Ohio. Although we spoke of SLR "issues" and park shenanigans, these no longer dominated his thoughts and energy.
I miss Don--but I smile when I think of him and cherish the brief time I was given to know and enjoy him. My condolences to Don's family and "near-family" of friends. We will all keep Don with us in our memories.

Don, I was thinking about you the other day. You are surely missed in SLR. I keep remembering that Special Meeting with the Attorney and several SLR residents in your home. That one Meeting was the grass roots for change in SLohA. I want to thank you, for your involvement in promoting good in our community. If you could give our leaders a little nudge from above, that would be good also. Again Thanks...
Your Friend, J im A uth
