As predicted, the mediation "came to nothing" and was over ie "declared an impasse" so fast I hardly had time to consume the delicious goodies set out by the Mediation Service. I did have time for an excellent Starbuck's Mocha Frappucino and low-sugar Mixed Berry cereal bar. They were prepared to serve us lunch but we barely made it to 10:15 am!
The site of the mediation was very attractive--a brand new modern building with a two story atrium lobby and floating staircase. They had a large cafe filled with goodies galore--including all kinds of pastries, coffees, specialty drinks, ice cream, cookies and candy. Wonder why they want their participants all sugared up! The little conference room was stocked with even more candy and the wifi code. I was very comfy there and spent a wonderful hour chatting with F and picking his brain on all kinds of questions I had saved up for the occasion.
I previously mentioned that I would be held to a confidentiality standard as to anything discussed there. Fortunately, there was no new ground even approached so there is not even any confidentiality to break! Same ole Same ole. The mediator was likeable and efficient. All in all, I would say it was a good experience and there was no disappointment since there was no expectation of a successful resolution. I am glad it is over and we can proceed to seek a resolution in court.
F tells me that it will optimistically take about two years for this to resolve, so I guess we should all just sit back, take a deep breath and let the lawyers figure it out.
Now, it is "merlot time"...
