The first post on feral cat sightings at the Admin Bldg was July 10, 2013. The cats are still here lounging on the porch in the rocking chairs, darting about the grounds and pooping on owners' property. Incredibly, our absentee leadership has STILL done nothing to remove this nuisance from our community (in this case, specifically the cats).
Here is a Dec 17th cross post from the Guess What--SLR has a Problem Thread. :

Uhhh...not quite true. While the official website of SLohA does represent SLR as a manufactured home resort, this statement is untrue.
It is clearly written on every single SLohA document...on every owner deed... and in the Polk County Property records that SLR is a recreational vehicle community.
It is anyone's guess why the owner of our official website would sponsor a gross misrepresentation of the community.

Well, it appears there is new information that has come to light regarding the feral cats and why they are here. Apparently the office had a cockroach and mice problem, so the manager adopted these cats to get rid of these pests. However, when residents bring bags full of cat food to the office, these cats aren't going to go after any cockroach and probably will be too full on cat food to go after a mouse. Also, it's a no brainer--the cat food in bowls all over the place is going to draw cockroaches and mice, so the pest problems may persist and get worse.

Well, It is like I have stated before, if you have a Mouse Problem .. You most likely will also have a Snake Problem.. "Snakes Love To Eat Mice "... The Snakes will go under the Crawl Space to Feed.
We had a Rattle Snake problem camping in Arizona, the Bird Feeder Seeds would drop on the Ground, the Mice would Feed on the Bird Seed and the Rattle Snakes would Feed on the Mice.
So Mice Eat Cat Food, & Mr. Snake Eats Mr. Mouse !!!

So, why can't there be something to eat or get rid of the cats?

The individual with all the long posts about the cats isn't going to get ANYWHERE unless HE DOES SOMETHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM HIMSELF!
How long has this been going on now? Don't you think there's more important things right now to be commenting on?
You know damn good and well that the only 2 ways the cats are going to go away is 1) You trap them and remove them, or 2) the manager is fired--and we all know that's not an option w/this board of directors.
That means you only have one choice of what to do. Stop all the unnecessary rhetoric if you, yourself aren't going to do anything about the problem.

Think about this, It is really not in the best interest of all Dog Owners to remove the SLR's Cats. As long as SLR's Manager is the caretaker of Cats, how can Management Enforce Any Dog Rules? Any DOG Violations will not stick to the wall.
The Cat issue at the present in being pigeon-holed, to be used at a later date.

There has been no uprising by ALL dog owners to remove the cats; don't know why you would include ALL dog owners here--not all dog owners even know about the "cat problem" and/or even the issues going on with the dog signs; the cat issue really has nothing to do with ALL dog owners. The manager is NOT really the caretaker of these cats since many owners are bringing cat food to the office. The management also cannot legally enforce ANY of the rules concerning pets because the rules are expired.

Surreptitiously remove the unwanted beasts and be done with it already; droning on about the cat issue isn't going to change it one damn bit.

That means you only have one choice of what to do. Stop all the unnecessary rhetoric if you, yourself aren't going to do anything about the problem. It not appropriate for a resident to do this job. An elderly resident, untrained in the safe and humane capture of non-domesticated animals, would place their own health and safety at risk, possibly injuring themselves during what will be a resisted attempt. Does anyone think a feral cat is going to go willingly into the waiting arms of its captor? If injured, the person attempting to do this without the proper equipment and training, would S u e SLohA and win a lawsuit against SLohA, the custodian of the feral cats. SLohA has had 5 months notice of its flagrant disregard for its own Covenants on this issue. Animal Control has had several complaints and has visited the Mange about the situation. The BOD has been publicly called on to remedy the problem and refuses to do so--grinning like idiots when an owner wanted to discuss during a meeting. SLohA will have no defense to a personal injury lawsuit and all residents will pay for legal fees and damages. Animal Control has stated its position; it will not get involved in a common property situation unless requested to do so by an authorized representative of SLohA. This is one more instance of residents enjoying the enhanced value that living in a HOA contributes to enjoyment of property and maintaining values. Ask a buyer how they think the place is run and property value increased by having a feral cat colony roaming the neighborhood, sleeping on our rocking chairs on our porch after eating food provided by MANBOD--then cats retire beneath our office--the foundation of which has been physically altered and is unsightly to provide access for these animals to urinate and defecate there, prey on mice and snakes and await the MANGE's dinner bell. Later, off to a romp in the cathouse built on company time, by company employees--a hideous structure illegally situated on common property plainly visible to all visitors to our business office. As long as BOD serves MAN and rejects its fiduciary duty of loyalty to the members who elected them, we will have cats and more towers and possibly more business establishing on the property and there's no reasonable self-help remedy available without considerable risk.
