I had to inflate my golf cart tires today, so while I was close to the new Annex, I took a tour of the outside & inside of the Bldg. The landscape is well done, it will require lots of TLC, but we do have a Garden Club at the present. The "New" sidewalks are fairly wide, for some reason they decide not to replace the old walkway that leads to the front door steps. The 25 ft. section of the old sidewalk is about a foot narrow, then the "New" Sidewalks. I suppose being that they were over budget, it was decided by not replacing the old walkway, it would save money...
There was some shoddy concrete work on all of the steps leading to the front, side & back entrance doors. The Concrete Crew attempted to Resurface the the new flawed steps. What a lousy repair by a Concrete Contractors that does this type of work every day. it is 3rd class work.
I ventured inside of the new Annex, kind of looked round, the 2 round poker tables and chairs have reappeared for use. The Library has it own Room: Mon., Wed, & Fri., it is open 10 AM - Noon.
Chug has a front private room, it was locked. It looks like they have a private room for Craft Projects.
The Men's & Ladies restrooms are Sm all, it only has room for 1 person at a time... But I guess one can all ways use the Club House restrooms in an emergency. We also have a Handy-Cap ramp at the front Bldg. Entrance. What I did not see was any Hand-Cap Exxxxxxx Doors, like we have installed at the Club House. They were over the Budget, so maybe the Handy-Cap Doors will be installed at a later date. Just maybe the Clubs will be asked to Donate Monies.
The Annex parking lot Paving work, matches the other Paving Projects in SLR. Thats not say much about quality control.
If SLR's BODs were smart, they would hire a independent, hands on Project Manager, for any major Projects in SLR.
Plus I did not notice a Water Fountion, maybe that is a good thing, because SLR's water system smells of chlorine.
A lot of Money was spent on this project, and the final cost was way over Budget....
