I am sorry if I am not posting in the proper area but like usual I am confused... On my recent visit to S-bag I arrived 3.30am on Monday to find are gate was open I was kind of surprise because security was no where to be found.. I was wondering why sometime on Monday it was closed and sometimes open.. Seems like that the gate is not functioning the way it should ..Does anyone know what is the problem??

To Secondhandmillionaire: It was already reported on this forum the info on why the gate is not functioning properly. I can't recall where it was posted but it was reported several days ago that the gate was struck by lightening and had to be removed to be fixed at a shop somewhere else, (and you're right, this isn't the place for a post about the front gate.)
You can ALWAYS keep up about what's going in SLR if you just read the recent posts section which can easily be accessed by going to the BOTTOM of the HOME page, find where it says "recent posts" in BLUE--then click on that and all recent posts will be there for you to peruse. (anything in BLUE can be clicked on as a link to it--this includes all the threads that have been created by those who post here.)

The manager stated the Front Gate was hit by lighting and is in need of parts. Then the other day the Gate is Working, now it is in the open position, not working. The same thing last week, it works one day and then later it is in the open position. I thought we are still waiting for parts. What is going on with the Front Gate Problem? Did I miss something, or are my Meds to strong? Or maybe both.....

Manager has even stated false information to PCSD, that you can believe.

Q. Since when has anyone been able to believe the forked-Tangd lot lizard at 499?
A. Since NEVER.

I believe there is nothing wrong with the gate arm actuator, however it has been struck by lightning some years ago and that is the most simple excuse to use when anyone asks why the gate arm is almost always in the raised and upright position. The gate arm actuator gets quite a work out on a daily basis, even in the summer months and may just be showing signs of wear.
If the control unit had in fact been struck by lightning it would be the 3rd strike in the same spot within 5 years, that's highly unlikely. Besides, looking at some of the palm trees that have suffered a direct strike by lightning, there is a large visible blackened spot at the base of the tree and on both sides.
I realize the gate control mechanism in enclosed in a steel upright box, it would have shown some signs of distress if in fact it truly was struck by lightning. Did Maintenance rush right up with a can of yellow paint, and do the bodywork to fix the warped metal upright box that contains the inner workings of the mechanism? I seriously doubt that to be the case.
I believe the reason for the gate arm to be constantly in the raised and upright position to facilitate contractors working in the community with multiple vehicles . LMK pipe, KCN and a contractor that is currently dismantling a park model trailer across from the NorleeDee Browned Memorial Poker Room Building along with a contractor assembling a new double wide on #29 RQ. All of these contactors have multiple trucks and equipment that require several days of entry to our community to complete their work.
Having contractors sign in each and every day would be non sense and a big waste of time, therefore the gate arm is left in the raised position.
Maybe SLohA, that would be the OWNERS, should recommend placing a security booth in the outside portion of the entry lot, this would be a manned check point and guests-outsiders-contractors would be observed entering our park. Owners with the bar code would, of course, have automatic gate arm actuation upon entering the front parking lot area located in front of the office building. This is the standard set up that most all real resorts have, the security booths have A/C, phone, tv-radio, and a base radio for 2-way communication if the guest/contractor arrives and the gate switch person is away from his/her post for some reason.
This type of set up is doable, it makes sense and it makes entry to SLR more secure and keeps guests that may have limited mobility from parking and walking up/down steps just to sign in. It is a much more expedient means of park entry and also keeps the entry switch operator visible as the booth has windows. Entry gate switch operators are less likely to be sleeping on the job or watching internet pornography, such as what has been reported by KCN to one particular gate entry switch operator that also used Company internet and computer to send threatening emails to residents while on the job. Instead of wasting money on new chain link fence that no one could care less about and doesn't enhance security as it is already doing its job just fine, I feel the gate entry booth however WOULD enhance our security, and serve a more useful purpose and make SLR appear to be up to the typical standard that many real resorts have on site.
Also, if you like this and my way of thinking, please consider me, James Grnt as a write in candidate for the Board of Directors next election.

Thank you CSI! Great job of analyzing the gate situation and it certainly makes a LOT more sense than IT's perennial excuse that "it was hit by lightning". Maybe it was...but it certainly is not acting like a fried piece of equipment that has been electrocuted-- rather than intermittently failing on a morning schedule during the workday. The fact that IT made the statement further erodes the confidence factor and makes one wonder what she is buying now.
I would strongly advise you against running for the Board. It has been known to zombie-ize people and cause them to take leave of their common sense, integrity and obedience to the law. I would hate to see this happen to you and I am afraid I would have to relieve you of your Admin duties here should you assume this dangerous role. But, your participation on the forum would still be welcome!

However, let me assure you that no one and no group of people can steal my brain.
My devotion and dedication to our community is a constant. My integrity and obedience to the Law, whether it be on a Federal-State-County level is unfaltering. If I say it, I will prove it to a moral certainty and be accountable and accept any mistakes or wrong doing without excuse or lies.
I put my name to this because it is truly how I am and always will be, I put my truth and integrity on the table for all to see and by saying this I realize that I am placing my Honor on the table as well.
I feel that I have excellent and supportive resources I can call upon in any situation and would accept being President of the Board of Directors for no personal or selfish reasons.
My aim is true, I care about the people in my community and the community itself above all else. I am on site 24/7/365 and always take the time to listen and help if I can. I would be sad to lose my Administrators privilege to the forum but I see there is something much more pressing and I would have no problem giving up the duty.
My commitment to my friends and to those I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting is unwavering. Those who know me see my qualities and where I stand so I don't need to front how super duper I am.
I welcome all to judge for themselves, get to know me. Actions speak louder than words and both my actions and words will speak for themselves under the ever watchful eyes of my community members.
Sincerely & Honestly

Guess the Access Gate problem has been solved. But, WHO let a contractor into the park on a Sunday morning, Oct 5?? What happened to those phoney-baloney Contractor Rules that Members never adopted?
