From the Ledger Crime Map:
Seems that it was only a matter of time before crime came knockin' on S-bag doors. The Board has allowed many, many contractors--none of whom live in S-bag--free and unfettered access to our community. Anytime..day or night--c'mon in!
THIS is just one reason why communties such as ours is set up as a platted residential-only community with an access gate. We pay additional money for a patrol to keep an eye out--to try to prevent criminal activity on our property. (The surveillance cams which we didn't have a voice about have proven worthless for anything except the viewing enjoyment of office staff). BOD has nullified this measure of security by sponsoring S-bag's conversion into a mixed use community (contrary to Polk County Planning Code) with unrestricted commercial activity and permitting access to non-owners, unverified or unregistered visitors.

There has been far more crime committed in SLR than just what's showing up on that "crime map"; it either was not reported or the Sheriff tells people that it's a "civil matter" just so as they don't have to deal with it. Also, some actual crimes that were reported by residents never got put into a report by the Sheriff because the Sheriff said: they "cannot do anything" because we're in a "locked-gate" community and "you have your own security."
With that being said, it's as if we are in a "lawless" community, and MANBOD knows this and has been using this to their advantage.
A closer look really needs to be taken at one of SLR's in-house "security" people who has total access throughout SLR and, because these burglaries, vandalism and malicious, criminal mischief have pretty much all occurred while this one individual is on shift--i.e. the graveyard shift--when just about everyone else is asleep and it's easier to move around surreptitiously under the cover of darkness.

What now? Looks like Polk County Sheriff was staking out entry into SLR from around 4pm to 7pm. They made no effort to be "hidden" as the headlights were on. Unit was seen backed into the orange groves near the entrance on Polk County property. Are they looking for someone?
Apparently, a concerned resident stopped a Security Van and the Security person was overheard saying to the driver something to the effect that "we are just trying to protect you".
Huh? Protect us from what? I know D-bag thinks we need to be alert for Martians landing at the front gate or a meteor crashing into S-bag Lake. But, last I heard, we need to be protected from a beer-guzzling, flaming internet trolling, critter-crushing, obscenity-spewing, freakin'-feminazi Security idiot and a homicidal board Director.

This might sound like a smartass answer but it's not. How about going up to the officer and actually asking if everything is OK?! It's better to get your answers straight from the source instead of asking those who might reply with rumor instead of fact. I've found the officers (if not in the middle of something important) like to give out info if it pertains to our area.
Just a thought.

It is a great thought, but, this is the local Sheriff we are talking about, not an actual " Officer" of the Law.

I notice the police cruiser pulled in with the front end facing the large tower in the groves on S-bag Lake Rd. around 4pm on Tuesday. The drivers side door was wide open, and I did not see the officer in the area. I thought that maybe he was looking for a fireplug. The cruiser had its light off, but drivers side door was wide open. I gotta go now !

I gotta go now ! It would be impossible to guess what the PCSD is doing there by the Verizon Tower, but, my best guess is that the home on the west side of the road has a young man about 7-10 years old and he likes to shoot some hoops in the evening and the increase in SLRs population is on the rise, and speeding in/out is the reason possibly.
A very dangerous place for kids to play, but people should be aware that you ALWAYS slow down and yield to children and pedestrians. Unlike what our Treasurer has stated publicly "I only have to yield to pedestrians when they are in a crosswalk", this is asinine and very pig headed.
I'm glad that Mr. SS is only one of a few of his generation that thinks like that. I can only hope that he isn't met with the same thought process when crossing an active roadway by some like minded self centered idiot.
I would just ask people to slow it down, watch for children and show a little respect for our neighbors outside the community. There is nothing in this world worth injuring someone over with a motor vehicle, especially a child in front of his own house having a little fun.

What is with all the Polk County Sheriff patrol cars wondering our streets? Saw one on Thursday and then three today, plus the Sargent in his unmarked car. Was there a wild party I missed? Or maybe someone looting our water supply? Or better yet, the Martians really have landed at S-bag. Please post of you know.

But, they cant even do that right from what I hear. The Deputies have clearly stated that they don't do law enforcement in SLR and that SLR has "its own system" which is no system.
And it is the end of the month so it may be "quota time", writing citations on dogs w/o local tags you can only get from the pcsd .

Polk County Sheriff's Office 37 mins · CAPTURED! Thanks to your tips, 38-yr-old Gerald Geary, Jr., of Plant City, has been positively identified as the suspect seen in video surveillance stealing copper from cell phone towers all over Polk County - we posted the photos here and the tips came rolling in. PCSO got a warrant for his arrest, and Plant City PD took him into custody without incident at his home. According to witnesses he was recently fired from West Tower Communications, and knew the combinations to cell tower locks.Geary is also suspected of stealing copper from cell towers in Hillsborough County, where he lives. He's currently in the HCSO jail, charged with Grand Theft, Burglary, and Possession of Burglary Tools. He will be brought to the Polk County Jail at a later date. Thanks, tipsters, for helping put another bad guy behind bars!

Here is the interesting thing in SLR if this were to happen. Someone could cut wires and steal them for the copper. They could be seen or be on spycam, BUT, the Sheriff wouldn't come to arrest them because the Sheriff says "We don't do law enforcement in SLR, you have your own system."
Having our "own system" means that there is NO Law Enforcement in SLR, at least not for petty crime. Like our Treasurer using his Chrysler Caravan as a weapon to nearly run over a woman on the street, or the manager giving an order to spray toxic herbicide that went directly on an owners face while in his own back yard. Or a BOD telling the 911 operator that "HE HAS A GUN" just to get the sheriff to arrive faster and in force. OR the manager and a secretary LYING to the Sheriffs Animal control and to Magistrate Snodgrass in court about an encounter with a dog IN THE DOG RUN.
Don't put ANY faith in mangebod/secretary BP or the PCSD. Need proof of what I said above? Come and visit me and I will produce the proper paperwork that is all public record from Sheriff, Animal Control, Mangebod, Court and secretary BPs personal statement to PCSD/Animal Control.
