Hello Owners! Below is an update on the upcoming Election and Board of Directors candidates:

Along with your ballot information you will also need to fill out your census form and bring it to the office with your identification as we will need to verify your over 55 updated information with regard to SLohA's 55 and over status with the State of Florida.
We hope to see you all at the Candidate's Forum on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the clubhouse and at the ballot box (ballots must be turned in at the SLohA office on or before
Thursday, February 19, 2015 at 4:00 p.m.) and at the Annual Meeting scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the clubhouse to ensure the continued success of SLohA!

The only thing that stands out to me is that this Board continues its pattern of not only ignoring, but DEFYING its own law with regard to the conduct of the Annual Meeting and the Election process.
By scheduling the Annual Meeting a 9am, clearly the Board does not intend to open ballots and count ON THE DAY of the meeting. I think it is safe to assume that the Ballot Box will also be vulnerable to tampering as has been observed in the past.
The Board is on formal notice that they must adhere to SLohA law but they will not do this. Continued unlawful conduct of elections may result in a cH allenge with the State of Florida if the election results raise eyebrows and suspicions THIS year--as they have since 2012.
The only other thing I don't see is some remarks about how to submit questions for the Candidates at the Candidates Forum on the 14th. Hopefully, we will not see a repeat of the shameful production in 2012 where inflammatory, biased and "board proprietary" questions were planted by persons selected by the Board. Otherwise, I might as well stay home.
Hopefully, we will not see yet another example of the blackout of Member participation in the governance process.

I believe Ex-President Kn Lws is assisting Frns sm all in the procedure process at The Candidates Forum on the 14th. Rob Kightly will be the . So let us hope this will be 'A Fair & Balance Forum"..
On the issue of voting and counting Ballots, it looks like the Same Old-Same-Old Procedure. Open Ballot envelopes before Election Day, Separate the Ballots from the Proxy Cards, and put rubber bands around sm all stacks of Ballots. Then place the separated Ballots in a File Cabinet Drawer in the front office bldg, to be counted the day before the Election. Now pray tell me, what is wrong with that Ballot Procedure? Our Ballots will be sitting in a file cabinet in the SLR's Front Office. SLohA does have Rules about our Election Procedures, and for the life of me, I can not find " Put Separated Ballots in a File Cabinet. These Election Rules were written for a Reason. "To Prevent the Temptation of Election Fraud"... Please everyone please read the Election Rules.....
Ballots are to be placed in The Official Ballot Box until Election Day. Then on Election Day The Official Ballot Box is to be Open, and all Ballots are to be counted with Members in charge of Ballot Counting...... "Let Us Start 2015 By Doing Things in SLR Right The First Time"
PS. Note it appears the Ballot Deadline in now on a Thursday at 4pm., instead of Friday at 12 noon. Just Maybe Our Election Committee will be Opening & Counting all Ballots on a Friday. Who knows, as we are being left in the dark on all SLohA's Issues.

Last year my neighbor was allowed to have the ballot box opened for him to look into to see how full it was. Hope they do better this year.

Ack! I forgot! We are no longer an HOA under the FS720 statute and have no standing to complain to the Dept of Business Regulation about election improprieties or anything else!
Maybe this explains the increased overt flaunting of continued flawed election practices!

Can someone tell me why the manager's salary is never shown on the financial part of the ballot? Is it a deep dark secret?

The manager is salaried and xx xxxxxxxxx. She gets paid out when xxxxxxxx xxxxx this community.This year alone half of our reserves xxxx could go in lawsuits.so she is well on track.
It wont be too long before we are looking at receivership
These lawsuits might have been generated with intent to exhaust our reserves
xxxx track record in other communities xxxx suggests this xx might be their intention
Lets hope than this board can revitalize so homesteaders can withdraw from this association and avoid huge damage

Rumor was a few years back that this same management co. xxxx involved with Greenlefe Golf country club which later went bankrupt. Any xxxx more information on xx this?

BALLOTS AT SLR OFFICE THROUGH THURSDAY. ANY NOT PICK ED UP WILL BE MAILED OUT. TO DAY ' S "INFORMATIONAL" SESSION DENOTING THE LAST 10 YEARS IN S-bag ENDED WITH THE BOARD TELLING THE RESIDENTS WHAT A GREAT JOB THEY ARE DOING AND PATTING THEMSELVES ON THE BACK FOR HIRING THIS GREAT MANAGEMENT COMPANY.
