Hello, I recently had the opportunity to assist a senior couple in SLR, with filing the Application For Homestead and Related Tax Exemptions. I went to their residence and explained the information needed on the application. (Deadline for present year is March 1, 2015)
Several days later the husband and I drove to Polk County's Property Appraisers Office in Bartow, Fl. The office is very easy to locate and plenty of parking is available next to the office. The county personnel went out of their way to assist us. This couples recent property tax bill was $280, "next years estimated property tax bill is $1 to $1". A savings of $280. This couple also applied for a senior couple (age 65+) with limited income. We took this Limited Income Tax Exemption Application back to their residence, to be filled out and filed by June 1st.
This is a fairly easy process and I was happy to be of help.

This is a great thing, after saving yourselves hundreds and hundreds of dollars in taxes you all then can vote "yes" next year to raise fees so the board can waste the money like they have been doing. Support cutting your own financial throats by voting YES to everything!
