(Editor: That "frequent contributor" would be me and that is one of my fav quotes inserted in my profile! The "pet quote" evokes memories of my young adulthood as a church organist accompanying my mom, the choir director. She and I often had disagreements about music choices, lead vocals, song arrangements etc but we NEVER FAILED to communicate respectfully and create beautiful, harmonious music together! The quote seems very appropriate for S-bag.)
Here is what one Yahoo contributor (NOT a Saddlebagger) has to say about the quote:
Sometimes I think that leery must have had a much different education in Civics classes than my experience. Even though I think his philosophy sounds oppressive and dictator-like, but his is a unique note in the S-bag Symphony!
One of the frequent contributors to S-bag.boards.net has a pet quote about different voices being required to achieve harmony. That is true but anyone with a musical ear can tell you that not just any voice, singing any note will contribute to harmony. If harmony is what we want to achieve, we have to choose voices and notes that contribute to the melody. Those will support and enhance the impact of song. Voices which insist on their individual identity create only grating discord.
My suggestion is that all of us who truly seek harmony amongst our fellow shareholders and friends should take care what notes we sing and listen for the melody line that connects us all.

Harmony is diversity. In music it is different notes that sound good together. In life it means that people are different, they approach problems and questions from different directions, but they find a way to work together, to settle their differences, to cooperate and work together towards shared goals.
There are people who believe that we can never have peace and brotherhood until everyone has the same religion (their own, of course) and the same political philosophy. That would be everyone singing the same note. But it would not be harmony. Harmony is when people can believe what they believe but have open minds, find common ground, and work together to get beyond one anothers' differences.
