It was a very, very sad day in S-bag Lake Resort today. One neighbor was verbally assaulted today by another and had to call the Polk County Sheriff for intervention. Why not security? Because the neighbor doing the assaulting is a member of the security force and has been seen and heard by others being uncontrollably assaultive to the other resident. SLohA has a civil liability here according to the officers who responded. We can all be sued if it escalates again as the assailant threatened to burn the other resident's home down. Police report filed and legal action may follow. Why oh why can't our Board control its employees?

First thing, our Board needs to terminate this employee. And some type of legal action needs to follow. SLR's residents do not have to accept, the unacceptable. It sounds like this person is out of control, and has real issues with controlling his anger. What a shame things like this happens, but one could see it coming, was just a matter of when. Really Sad. :-(

I Hayvn't heard that mentioned in some time but JC was the first to live and work in SLR and a lot of people said THATS BREAKING THE RULES.
I remember when all of our Security Staff lived outside SLR but that was before this management came in and messed up our once peaceful community.

I've seen people like that before when I worked in a psychiatric hospital and more often than not, these types all had drug and/or alcohol problems. Maybe this security guy harassing these residents on silversides needs both mental and physical evaluation with tox-screen.

One of the board members was asked to be present when the sherrif's deputies were called but did not. It was said that they didn't want to be involved.

I believe we do have A Leadership Problem in SLR.

Many have been watching, with growing alarm, the decomposition of this man's composure. While it is certainly reasonable for someone to be "mad" at being hoodwinked and seen by the boss in a negative light as a result of an event, it is extremely disturbing for someone--over a month later-- to "hold onto" an irrational anger and continue to verbally assault and threaten people such as the contractor's workers, hired workers performing ancillary tasks on the home, and most recently, TWO WITNESSED public verbal assaults-one with police intervention and a report filed. The security employee verbalized the desire to see the owner's home burn down. This is the picture of someone "losing it" and who is potentially dangerous to the community.
If SLohA were an intelligent and humane employer adopting reasonable risk management policies, it would suspend the employee and order an immediate tox screen (it is mandated by Employee Policy before employment) and compare the current tox screen with the pre-employment one. SLohA would then order the employee into mental health counselling and/or rehab, depending on outcome of tox screen. SLohA would give the employee an opportunity to heal himself, obtain a professional evaluation of fitness for the job and return to his position under probation after a period of time.
In the meantime, SLohA would be wise to review its policy on hiring employees from within the community. It simply is not a good idea for owners to have a power influence over their friends and neighbors! The term "security force" can be intimidating to some and give an impression of some "extra influence" over owners' behavior. I don't recall ever seeing anything prohibiting "hiring within" but in my opinion it is a BAD practice and increases SLohA liability if not managed properly.
BOD was quick to respond to the original 911 call by security (the one that got SLohA fined for repeatedly abusing the 911 line for non-emergencies) for police assistance, but not a single director bothered to show up for the call to police by the owner. What is the implication of that behavior? What perception do people get who are already distrustful of BOD? How does that add to the growing erosion of confidence amongst those owners who might still be "on the fence" about MANBOD?
Will SLohA treat this person humanely--or will they permit this loose cannon and aggressive individual to place SLohA at risk for a civil lawsuit and possibly injure an owner or owner's property?

If nothing is done about this unruly employee, then management condones his behavior and they should both go. There is NO reason why this employee should stay on the job after his repeated harrassing actions against the same resident. This community does not condone this type of harrassment by any employee. Many in this community are fed up with this type of thing continuing and NOTHING being done about it. I bet the manager's boss doesn't even know anything about what's been going on either but you can bet word of this out of control employee is going around like wild-fire in SLR. Other complaints on another security person were ignored, which were: stalking a resident walking at night; running this same resident off of the road in the security van, and were already noted on here, which just backs up that we should NOT be hiring from within SLR for the reasons given by Bag Lady. We are also making note of this security person's behavior to this community, as it is UNACCEPTABLE, and this management company and this board had better start doing something about it before someone gets their house burned down, or gets hurt or even killed. Oh, but wait, someone did get killed in here awhile back, but nothing was ever said or done about that either!

Awhile back, this same security person was being reprimanded by a board member, but then the manager intervened and said to this board member that she has total control of the hiring and firing of all employees in SLR; this is probably why the board won't get involved...

Maybe IT would do us all a favor and Fire herself, before her Boss does. I do not imagine going to Court this Friday, along with 2 staff and 2 coworkers will help with retaining her FL.CAM License or Position as Manager. We will see soon.

The Polk County Sheriff report is now available for the incident of Sunday. D/S Fos ter is very clear that SLohA is in the position of incurring Civil Liability as T Hayvn is a member of the security and without action by our Board we are all susceptible to being sued. Written (emails) have been sent to the President, Peet Brdun, but no response other than the classic--received your e-mail have come back. More people ought to be writing Peet and going on record that they want to know what action SLohA is taking to protect the residents within this resort.

Can you scan the police report and post it on the forum for all to see? (Most printers have scan functions these days.) Or, if not, can you place the detail text in a post? People need to know that this community is under seige to a person with purported "authority" who is out of control and abusing his priviledge. It is unconscionable that BOD would not attend to a police call--another example of "selective enforcement" ie when the Mange calls, roar up in your golf cart; if an owner calls, ignore it. The BOD can spend all the money in Reserves on poSt age trying to put out an image of consistency of enforcement, but it will never convince anyone that reality is not reality: some owners get attention/favors and some owners get ignored/abused. This incident just Undid all the $2000 in poSt age that they spent in owner's money on the garbage stump letters.Thank goodness you wrote to the Board; since they couldn't be bothered to attend the police call and ascertain FIRST HAND, for the Good of the Community, the circumstances, they need to be put on formal written notice.
